1995 French House - 1st visit

Jen's Diary

We went to this old house because my Auntie, my Mummy and Daddy were thinking of buying it. We went to look round it and Daddy videod it. I wanted to have a go also but the battery ran out.
There was quite a lot of cracks in one half of the building so I did not like the look of it. We went into the garden and there were lots of pear trees. Daddy said we could just strim all this long grass down. We went to the caravan site Kristine and I went to catch some grasshoppers and slide down the big hill.

Monday
I was not that excited because we were going to look inside the big house so we went to Julie's friends and asked for the key. Mummy said we could go outside to play for a while. I had to get a tissue because Kristine's foot was bleeding. Daddy's car has a really strong boot so I pulled it down really hard and nearly knocked Kristine out as she was underneath it.
We went to look at this house and we could not open the doors but Mummy found that it had a double lock which meant you had to turn the key twice.
There was a door right in front of us and three other doors off to the sides. We went into the door on the left into an old bedroom. In the corner of this room there was a handbag and inside it was a wig. Mummy took some photographs of it. We then went to look in the bathroom and there was a dead bird in it.
We went through the door straight ahead of us. We went through the rest of the house. We saw two more dead birds and two dark cellars. There was a fast sports car in the garage. In the bedroom there was a big chimney pipe going through it. The shop and the cafe nearby were shut because it was a holiday Monday in France. We saw three witches brooms in the house. It was a bit creepy All of us were a bit afraid to go down the cellars.
In the afternoon we went to a lake. It was stony in the water but sandy at the edge. We went in a pedalo and found a frisbee on the bank of the lake. We bought some ice creams and we were chased by wasps. Daddy pretended there was a wasp on my bottom and smacked it. We played frisbee and sunbathed.
We went back to our camp site. We had a barbecue and went to bed.

Tuesday
We had to travel a long way to the coast. It took over three hours. We left our caravan at a camp site and went down to the beach. We collected pieces of gold coloured rock and we saw some crabs in the rock pools. We saw a girl pick up a live crab. Her brother had said not to touch it as it might bite her finger.
We came back from the beach and played in the childrens area. Some boys came and squirted us with water. They kept shouting after us all evening. Daddy cooked a piece of steak on the barbecue and we all had a good feast. I was so hinge I also had a beefburger.

Wednesday
We did not wake up until 10 o'clock. After breakfast we packed up the caravan and travelled to a new camp site by a Chateaux. Kristine and I went horse riding. The saddle only had one stir¬rup and the hat did not fit properly. I wanted to go into the forest on my own but the lady said I was too young.
In the evening we went to a town to look at the beaches. It was like Brighton. I fell asleep and woke up when we went into a shopping area. We had dinner in a restaurant. Mummy and Daddy had lots of mussels. We had pizza. It took over an hour to get ready. The pizza was huge. We got lost on our way back.

Thursday
Today we just stayed at the campsite. Kristine and I went to see if the art school was on but it wasn't. Daddy and Mummy had a rest while Kristine and me listened to The Witches tape. Then we all went on the pedaloes but the pedals were broken and it wasn't very good. Kristine and I played for a while and then we went to look around the town. We went to the supermarket and we got a necklace each out of the machine. We were playing frisbee when Kristine lost her necklace. I was helping her look and she was quite upset so I thought I would lose my necklace to make her feel better. Daddy and the girls from the next caravan helped us find them. Kristine and I had to rush our tea so we could see the fire-eating. It was the man who sold us the ice-creams. Mummy and Daddy were talking to the girls parents. We played in the girls tent and told each other jokes and stories.

Friday
We went in the car to the Ferry, it took us four hours. Daddy nearly ran out of petrol. We stopped at a supermarket and Kris-tine and me looked at the crabs. They were bubbling and alive. We then went on the boat where we had a cabin. Mummy and Daddy felt sea-sick and Kristine and I went to see the film North. We had a meal but Mummy and Daddy had to lie down. Kristine and I were getting bored. We took Kristine home at half past ten at night.

Saturday
I had a lazy morning, we unpacked the caravan and I watched some television. We had eight baby stick insects. We then went tg Granny's to collect all my pets. She gave us a lovely pie for supper and we told her all about the holiday.
